What if you could harness your inner chaos and transform it into a source of strength and clarity? In this episode, we tackle the enigmatic "monkey mind" and its profound effects on our lives, from personal well-being to relationships. We share an inspiring story about our son who conquered his financial fears, illustrating the power of reframing negative narratives into positive ones. By learning to manage and even reward our monkey minds for their cooperation, we can foster a more harmonious internal dialogue, opening the door to personal growth and success.

Discover the emotional toll of unchecked fears, especially in matters of health, as we delve into the significance of addressing these concerns with honesty and trust in our higher selves. We'll share how recognizing and confronting these intrusive thoughts can build a foundation of truth and trust within ourselves, ultimately improving our interactions with others. Through personal anecdotes, we highlight the importance of being present and receptive, avoiding the creation of negative narratives that can harm our relationships.

Lastly, we explore practical steps to manage overwhelming thoughts, likening the process to overcoming the "ostrich syndrome" where problems are ignored in hopes they'll disappear. Learn how taking small, positive steps can alleviate fears, and how creating exaggerated, positive stories can diminish the power of our monkey minds. As we navigate these mental challenges, we emphasize the importance of mutual support and understanding, reminding you that true awakening begins when we make conscious changes. Join us, and let’s embark on this journey of growth together.

Speaker 1: Thank you, welcome back to the podcast, ladies and gentlemen, and we appreciate you listening. This is Spank your Monkey, part 2. Speaker 2: monkey, part two. But, on the other hand, another trick would be to tell the story and, uh, in a huge way in the opposite. Right, I'm being called into the office because I'm gonna get the peabody award, because I am freaking amazing man, because I have created this, this and this. Speaker 1: I am so good. Speaker 2: My boss loved it. And then just imagine that happening, feel the feeling of the excitement and the giddiness of that and tap into that energy. Speaker 1: Yes, the monkey mind can control a lot of things, if you allow it to, I think the part of this that a lot of people don't understand is when they're feeling other energies and the monkey mind comes in and suddenly this big story is created and they get frantic within their own world and they become more fearful. And it creates fear, because that's what the monkey mind does it creates an emotion based off a, most of the time, not true perception of what's about to happen. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: And that fear just feeds into it. So taking the control of the situation, creating that bigger story, will minimize that monkey mind story. Speaker 2: It allows you to get out of the fear template. Speaker 1: Yes. Speaker 2: Get out of that fear template. Yes, get out of that fear protocol Right and go about it in a non-fearful way. Anytime you can eliminate yourself from being knee deep in a bucket of fear, you're always going to create a better feeling situation. A better feeling situation. Speaker 1: And you know. Another part of that is this applies in so many aspects of life. Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk about money. Money is a big one out there. Speaker 1: It sure is Money. You know your abundance, as we're supposed to call it in this world. We just call it money, the green money, the dollar, and people will create stories of I can't buy this car because I can't afford it. And that's monkey mind. I can't do this because, oh my gosh, I'm not going to get my bonuses here, or whatever it is. Your monkey mind creates those kind of stories. Yeah, because we should be living in the temple of knowing that our higher self is going to take care of us. Speaker 2: Yeah, orchestrate the perfect situation and events to put into place exactly what you need. If you stop and you go back and you think about your life, your needs have always been met, always been met, and I'll give you. Speaker 1: Unless, I chose not to accept it. Speaker 2: That's right, yep. So I'll give you a quick story, very short, about our son. He was wanting to rent this apartment. He was out on his own, he was in a job that he perceived paid him mediocre, it was okay. He was comfortable financially but he wanted this bigger apartment that cost more. I think he was paying like $500 at his old apartment and this one was like $800 a month $1,800 . Speaker 1: It was $1,400, then $1,900. Whatever, I don't remember the amount. Speaker 2: But because he was allowing his monkey mind to tell him the story of I can't afford it, he wouldn't allow himself to have it Right. And when he got to a place, mentally that said you know what I'm worthy, I deserve it, I'm going to go and have it to a place, mentally that said you know what I'm worthy, I deserve it, I'm going to go and have it. Then what happened? Is his world opened up to providing his needs? Speaker 1: He went ahead and rented it. Speaker 2: He went ahead and moved into it. He brought it into his reality and, amazingly enough, higher self put together different components that allowed him to financially be able to afford it . Speaker 1: That's right, he got promoted. Speaker 2: Right, I told him. I said you will live within your means always. Speaker 1: Everybody does. Isn't that crazy? They do, yeah, it don't matter if you make $10 million a year or you make $10,000 a year You're going to live in an area that you can afford and you're going to create your world based off that experience and that ability to accept your higher self when you control the monkey mind. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: If you can create that story differently. Like the boss is calling you ring ring, come into the office as you walk in, this monkey mind's going crazy. Speaker 2: That damn phone. Speaker 1: I'm going to unplug it, I know right, you like my ring ring, you answer the phone, you're going to the principal, to the your boss's office, and you're telling yourself this negative story. So take it and turn that story into a positive story that, hey, my boss is calling me in here to give me this huge rage, huge raise and unless, of course, you did do something wrong and then you should own it because in your monkey mind it's not going to be monkey mind then, because it's going to be an experience that you know is that you got caught at yeah and so then it's justified. So there's no monkey mind there . That's reality, right, and so I . How do you, when you spank the monkey? Speaker 2: what do you do? So for me? I like to you know the mother part of me. I like to reward. You know, whenever my monkey mind has been put at bay and we've told the story in a different way, I convince my monkey to sit over in the corner and play video games and eat a banana. Once the event is over and everything is all said and done, I go to my monkey mind in kind of a mental, meditational, visual place and I have a conversation and I say thank you for sitting quietly, Thank you for giving me the space to experience this in a different way. And I'm here to work with you, not against you. And we are okay, we are safe, we're okay. Speaker 1: And so, thank you, that's exactly where I was going . Great job, I was going with that, as once you get your monkey mind out of the way and you've spanked your monkey and it's gone now you're walking the rest of the way to that boss's office with a little bit of an empty void, wondering what's going on. Create that story as you walk, or allow it to be open and receptive to whatever is there. Yeah, positively, you know, in a positive way. Right, because if you can do that, the monkey mind gets weaker and weaker and weaker. Right, and it can like, you know, in a positive way. Right, because if you can do that, the monkey mind gets weaker and weaker and weaker Right, and it can. Speaker 2: Like you said, it can happen in all areas. I'm being called to the wife's office. Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. I forgot to pick up my wife's drink. Speaker 2: I'm being called to the husband's office or whatever that area is. Speaker 1: Yeah, no. It applies in all aspects of life Relationships, money, work, friendships, whatever. It applies in a lot of aspects, and when you can learn to identify that monkey mind story that's being created in your head, it can help alleviate energy. Speaker 2: Well, and the other thing that it does is it builds a truth foundation, and what I mean by that is sometimes we think that someone may not be being truthful, but the paradox or the irony is that if we're creating a story that we think is going to happen, that is a partial lie or a lie I'm using heavy words on purpose then we are not being truthful. We are not being truthful with ourselves, and that's what's cracking the foundational platform of truth. It's not that the other person is doing that, we're doing it to ourselves, and so that loops us all the way back around to getting to know yourself, being true to yourself, building that trust foundation within yourself so that you can see the truth, and then and then trust the world around you, and that then turn allows you to feel safe and secure and view the world as a whole as a place that is safe and it's okay and everything is okay and it all works out, because higher self always meets your needs. Speaker 1: Right part of that. You know we have now identified the monkey mind with you know, if it's a monkey mind story and you don't have any experiences that you can remember within that moment, then it's probably just a monkey mind story and you learn to control it. Now what happens when you don't control your monkey mind and what it does to others? oh, yeah, yeah it's a large thing like your boss called you into your office, into the office to give you a ataboy or attagirl or great job promotion or raise because you've been doing such good work. And now you've just stolen that energetic exchange of positivity because you're not controlling the monkey mind and you walk into the office with this negative energy. Or look on your face. Speaker 2: I have a very personal experience that we just went through as husband and wife and it plays into this beautifully. So I am fulfilling a journey, a part of my journey, where I've got some unhealthy spots on my skin called skin cancer and cancer, and so for me I have beliefs in there that are fear-based of disfigurement, going to modern medicine doctor and him messing something up and I have a lot of junk I'm having to work through on that. So for me it didn't feel good physically, obviously, but mentally and energetically it's not a feel good place for me because I have a bunch of baggage in there where I don't trust the doctors and I'm not letting myself even look at it, so I just ignore it. Speaker 1: Well, I mean, you know the monkey mind there. This is kind of experience related. So some of this is monkey mind and some of it's not, because you do have 21 years in the medical world. Speaker 2: Right, but that still is relatable because my physical experiences of being a nurse and watching some of the back stuff go on which we're not going to go into detail, the behind the scenes stuff, yeah, it has caused me to create beliefs that are not trusting my higher self of putting me in a situation that is always working out for me. So back to what we were going with. Okay, so I ignore the situation and I just don't deal with it because I'm not there yet, but in doing that, my physical body is yelling at me literally, because physical body will talk to you in different ways Pain, anxiety, topical yeah, whatever. So I have this spot on my ear and the day before yesterday I started kind of feeling yucky, kind of low energy. My ear was hurting. By the time I woke up the next day I was running fever, it was swollen, it was crazy and my husband had asked me to make a doctor's appointment with his dermatologist and conveniently A few months ago. Speaker 1: by the way, that was at least two months ago. Speaker 2: Right, conveniently, I forgot. Speaker 1: Conveniently. Speaker 2: So, subconsciously, I stowed it away and I forgot about it, forgot about it. But what I didn't understand or what I didn't think about was what effect is my monkey mind beliefs or the stories that I'm creating of? Oh my God, I'm going to go in there and they're going to have to cut my whole ear off and I'm going to have a hole inside of my head and like that's me creating my monkey mind story of . You know, they're going to take too much off and I'm going to be walking around with some weird wound and it's just going to be hideous and it goes deep. Like I was like, oh great, now I'm going to have to keep wearing my hair down and cover up the hole in my head and I can't pull my hair back anymore and some days you just want to pull your hair up in a bun on the top of your head. I can't do that anymore because people are going to look at me funny and like my monkey mind went rampant with this. So when I got up, feeling feverish and not so good, he was like, okay, what's wrong? And I went into detail. Speaker 1: Wait a minute. She didn't go into detail. It took me 30 or 45 minutes to get her bullhead to talk about it. What was going on? You know, she pointed out my bullhead in the energy workshop, or in the energy podcast, so in this one it was her bullhead. Speaker 2: It was. And we, I mean we are. We're human, just like the rest of you. We're not spiritual gurus, Gurus. Speaker 1: Gurus, gurus that's the word of the day. Goo-hoos that sounds like a candy bar, a goo-hoo. Hey, I'm going to go down and get me a goo-hoo. Get you a goo-hoo today, oh gosh, here we go with the singing again. Speaker 2: So it did. It took about 30 minutes of getting me to a place where I wanted to give it some energy. I wanted to acknowledge it because it didn't feel good. I don't want to have to freaking deal with it, man, I just don't. I'm like why is this happening to me? This is stupid. I obviously have a contractual obligation that says okay, you know what You're going to have this in your journey and we're doing this, so buckle in. Speaker 1: Yeah, and the crazy part about it was it was swollen and red and feverish. Speaker 2: It was ugly. Speaker 1: And I actually called the dermatologist and scheduled her appointment for her. Speaker 2: You did, I felt like a child. Speaker 1: And then that afternoon the swelling goes down and it quits hurting because you released the monkey mind story. Speaker 2: That's right it did. I felt like that child where it's like okay, if you're not going to behave like an adult, I'm going to help you I give you spankings like I do my monkey but what I didn't, but what I didn't take into consideration, is what kind of journey is it creating for my partner? That was the biggest epiphanal moment for me in all of that. I was too caught up in my monkey mind and the fact that it made me feel crappy, that I wanted to ignore it and not deal with it and not trust that everything is always working out and that this is not happening to me. It's happening for me. That's right. And how is it affecting the other person? And so you can speak about how it affected you. That never even crossed my mind , wasn't even able to, because I had such a block on the whole shit show. Right, I couldn't, couldn't even get to that point. Speaker 1: Well, you know what it does when you, when you have that monkey mind story that creates in you, it keeps you from talking about it. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: So you just store the energy and then on the other side of that, it creates emotions within me of this woman's done trying to check out on me here. What's going on? Speaker 2: My bags are packed. Yeah, I'm ready to go. Speaker 1: She's trying to go to the next dimension without me and that's not fair. You know it creates that little bit of. You know. It wasn't really a fear for me, it was, you know. Speaker 2: Be honest, because there was fear and frustration. Speaker 1: There was frustration , yeah, the fear of it, because I know it's just. It's not. Do I think that this is going to kill you? Absolutely not, and so the fear of it was not there. What it was is creating frustration because it makes you less energetic. It doesn't let you heal properly because you're taxing your immune system out, it doesn't allow your body to operate within the functions of you, which created Maybe there's a little fear in there for bad endings, but my monkey got spanked in that story. Speaker 2: Right, but I think what I want you to portray is your human side. It's okay to be frustrated at your wife because she is not doing what needs to be done. Speaker 1: I think the most frustrating part, because it frustrated the crap out of me was I was trying to give little subtle hints and reminders. Once a week I'd say, hey, did you call the dermatologist Right ? Or hey, how's your ear feeling? You know I did that all the time and throughout this whole two months or whatever it's been after, I gave her the contact, because when we got back and she agreed to call the dermatologist over it, I sent her the contact to my dermatologist and she just held it and sat on it and so I'm like did you get that the first couple weeks? Did you get that? Speaker 2: Did you get the text? Did you get the text? Yeah, I got it. Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm going to call this week Okay, and here we are now we're in this scenario. So it created the frustration within me. Frustration within me and and you know, and it kind of, I guess, in a way, made me feel like I was nothing, a little bit less, you know, like you don't value the relationship as much as I do, right, and and what you know the plans that we're making for the future and everything else is is not as important yeah as as they were to me right, and that was not my intention at all. Speaker 2: It was just that I was navigating it from my perspective Of your monkey mind. Because I'm afraid, I don't want to be disfigured, I don't want it to turn into some big oh my God, am I going to have to take chemo and I'm going to lose all my hair, like this whole big, huge story. And so, because of the fear I had, I completely changed the interaction with my partner and that then created the situation inside of him, because my monkey mind created this horrible story. It didn't allow me to look at everything from a full 360 degree place and get myself in a better feeling place, so I just ignored it. Speaker 1: And I tried to give her the positive influence out of it. I was like, hey, think about the cosmetic surgery you get to have. Speaker 2: I think we should call it the ostrich syndrome. Speaker 1: The ostrich syndrome. Speaker 2: Yeah, you put your head in the sand and ignore it. Speaker 1: But your butt's still in the air, so you're still exposed in a whole lot different way. Speaker 2: Or like the cat does when it hides behind the curtain If you can't see me, I can't see you. Speaker 1: So the monkey mind has two aspects If you don't control it, it affects you, or it affects others a lot worse than it does you. Sometimes, it can be pretty equal really, it can, or sometimes even worse. Speaker 2: Because I mean my monkey mind around this topic whips my butt on a daily mind around this topic whips my butt on a daily. Yeah. But now that I've made the appointment, I begin to start. I feel the energy dissipating for sure good I can take a breath and be like, okay, I've made the appointment, now we're going to embrace going to this appointment, staying positive, everything's going to be good and you just take it one baby step at a time. Speaker 1: Yep, just work through it. That's all you can do. It's all going to be all right. I know it is. Speaker 2: There was something you saw yesterday and you said thank you, spirit. It was on a sign, remember that sign and you said thank you Spirit, and it said, oh it says nothing gets better until you start. That's right. Yeah, and that is thank you, spirit, because it didn't resonate with me at the moment but as I sat and marinated with it. Speaker 1: Right, like a good steak. I was on a marquee for an attorney in our local town and it said, nothing gets better in life until you actually start. Speaker 2: And that is a very it's a very key thing to talk about, because just making the appointment put it in a positive trajectory for me and it was like, okay, that little baby step wasn't so bad, okay, the appointment's made Nothing bad happened. Speaker 1: And the monkey mind gets smaller. Speaker 2: That's right, and it gets more quiet. And it eases the fear and sometimes, whenever it's a hard topic, that's how you have to navigate it. Speaker 1: Baby steps. Speaker 2: One baby step at a time and feel the energy dissipate just a little bit more and feeling better. The next baby step, the next baby step. And that sometimes is how you have to navigate those big, huge , what feels like big, huge topics. Speaker 1: Yes, I agree, those big, huge, what feels like big, huge topics. Yes, I agree, I may be downplaying the seriousness a little bit on it by making it comical that I spanked my monkey and all that kind of stuff, but the reality is is it took many years of practice. Yeah, my positivity I'm always been that positive guy. I am a what do they call it? Optimist. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: I'm more of an optimist and when I'm an optimist it's much easier to control your monkey mind for me in certain places than it is for others, and I accept everybody for who they are and understanding that. You know, like I got asked about that failure. We have a coworker that asked me about how do you always stay positive when I view this as a failure? I view this as a failure. It just beats me down and what I told him was you know, failure is just the first step of success, because it makes you look at what you did wrong. And same thing with this. You know, the spiritual awakening that's going on in the world, in this world that we live in, is the reason why you start awakening, is because you get tired of where you are. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: And when you get tired of where you are is when monkey mind stories come into play, because you've been living in the monkey mind. Speaker 2: Do you agree with that? Where's the cricket noise? Speaker 1: And so when you get to a point that you are tired of living the way you are, is when that awakening process starts. You start identifying things in your world that can change, and there are other aspects of it. It could be contractual obligations. There's lots of different aspects in that and that is a whole other podcast to talk about. Speaker 2: It is. So. My viewpoint is that until you start awakening and bringing things to the awareness of your consciousness and really living life from that perspective, monkey mind is always at play. Right, always at play, you're always that little sneaky bastard will sneak up on you and you decide I don't like this person, and then you begin to create a character of what you think this person is based on something they said that may sound like something somebody else said that you had an experience with and didn't like or had an altercation with. Then you've tied those two people together. Speaker 1: I'm going to beat up the microphone. Speaker 2: That's because I'm sitting here talking with my hands. Come on video. You guys want to laugh. You'll see all the funny stuff. Speaker 1: She looks like a mime when she talks. Speaker 2: So then you automatically decide that you don't like this person. I'll give you an example. We work with a lot of elderly people and there's this one lady that she's having trouble getting her packages from one of the vendors that delivers packages. I don't know if we're allowed to say any of that. We're not going to say it. Anyway, nonetheless, she's automatically decided that somebody is stealing her packages, rather than her being able to say okay, let's look at this 360 degree. Maybe it's not being delivered, Maybe it's not being left, Maybe it's not. Speaker 1: Maybe you didn't change your address. Speaker 2: Right, maybe you didn't change your address. Maybe you didn't put the correct one. Nope, somebody's stealing it. It's being brought in. Somebody's stealing it, so she's decided that somebody is stealing her package. Speaker 1: Somebody is taking all of my stuff. Speaker 2: That's monkey mind, because she's created this perception of the event that's going on and that's what she's holding to. Speaker 1: I mean, she's got a stinking hold on that and after the third time I went to her to spank her own monkey for her and she didn't have her address right in her profile. Yeah right, so these packages weren't even being delivered here. Speaker 2: Right, but getting that human to that point, whoo goodness me that was a ride, it was a ride. But that's the thing is is being able to stop and say, okay , what story is my monkey mind creating? Speaker 1: Right, and you know, I think the easiest part to that for me was to look at it. From what experience can I relate to this monkey mind story that's being created? Or unrelated or unrelated, right, If it's not related to any stories and it's probably just monkey mind. If it is related, then there's an experience there. Speaker 2: Yeah, because life has no meaning until you give it a meaning, Until you give it a meaning that's correct. And if you're giving it an untrue meaning, then you're doing yourself a disservice and other people a disservice. Speaker 1: So just understand that not every story that you hear in your head is true, that the monkey mind is there and it's that little devil on your shoulder. You know, when you have the angel and devil, that little devil on your shoulder is going to make everything seem bad. That's what the monkey mind does. Speaker 2: Right, exactly the monkey mind can be overwhelming. Speaker 1: It can for sure it can get crazy, identifying it as your experience or not just like kind of like energy. If you all see the correlation here, if energy you identify, if you feel something identified as yours or not, monkey mind identified as yours or not, do you all see the pattern within the spiritual world? Speaker 2: is it true? Is it? Speaker 1: accurate, is it true? Is it accurate? Is it, is it mine, is it not mine, and how? Speaker 2: does it make you feel your feeler, is your gauge on navigating life, it's your compass, right? If it's making me feel like crap, then find a technique, a tool, a ritual, self-care that makes you feel better. Speaker 1: That's correct, and controlling the monkey mind will actually make your life a lot more peaceful. Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a lot more peaceful, and the more times you spank it, the quieter it gets. Speaker 1: That's right. So make sure you spank your monkey today. Speaker 2: Okay, Go out and spank that monkey. Speaker 1: And so I think we'll probably wrap up here on Monkey Mind. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: And we'll close this out. Thank you all for listening today. We hope that spanking your monkey becomes in your forefront of your mind, because spanking the monkey is an important part of how we live buy some bananas yeah, give your. You can be nice to your monkey, you can be mean to your monkey, however you want to do it yeah, whatever works whatever works for you. so just remember if the monkey mind is there, identify it as yours or not, and don't let it create a story. And if it is yours, create a bigger one, so it takes away the power. Speaker 2: Yeah. Speaker 1: Make the story worse in your mind. Speaker 2: Yep, sending everybody love and energy. Speaker 1: We appreciate you all listening. Don't forget to follow, subscribe, like and share. Hit that little bell button so you're notified when we post more. And we appreciate you all.
